- More than 108 billion pesos have been invested in 141 municipalities in 31 provinces in the country.
Bogotá D.C., April 29, 2019. In the 2018-2019 accountability hearing, the Deputy Minister of Public Health and Services, Iván Darío González, said that this Ministry has made progress in strengthening Colombian public hospitals.
"Infrastructure projects have been made viable for 450 billion pesos to improve care. We help by providing technical assistance so that they can be accredited," he said.
He indicated that investments also include resources for 88 billion pesos from the Salvage and Guarantees Fund for the Health Sector (Fonsaet).
In turn, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Juan Pablo Uribe, invited local authorities to conduct good management in public hospitals: "The call for the future is to know how to govern the public hospital, which belongs to all of us," he stressed.
Lastly, Deputy Minister González reiterated that in 2018, 118 projects worth 69 billion pesos were executed to strengthen infrastructure, provision, transfer of patients and strengthening of Urgency and Emergency Regulatory Centers (CRUE). "In this 2019 we have progressed by investing 40 billion toward 14 projects for the benefit of Colombians," he said.
